1st Movements of Chopin's 2nd and 3rd Sonatas
on: October 13, 2005, 08:27:29 AM
I've been REALLY obsessed with Chopin lately (I can hardly force myself to play any other composer) and have decided to postpone my recital until spring and work up a few etudes, the 3rd ballade, and op.48#1.
But I also really want to start exploring the sonatas a bit. My question is this: Can someone compare the various difficulties and techniques of the first movements of the 2nd and 3rd sonatas? Which one do you think is harder or would be harder for you personally? Why?
The third is my favorite sonata - it captures Chopin at his peak and is just a little more masterly than the second. But I love them both.
