Sorry to bump this old thread, but it's better to keep everything together.  I have taken quite a long break from this project, but today I decided to get back going with it.

Using the new modelling VST I discovered: 'Pianoteq', I have taken the MIDI data I created for the theme of Interludium Primum, and created a virtual performance of the section. I intend to do this with my whole share of the piece for this project. There isn't really anything new in it, nothing that the 2 complete recordings fail to reach in this section. This is just the start of a very long and tedious process. This theme alone took approximately six hours to produce.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

I have Pianoteq as well, and like it a lot.

I'd be interested to know where this video came from ... do tell!

I don't know if it's the same video, and I haven't seen it myself, but in an earlier OC topic (late 2004) you stated that someone called Joe Patrych made a video of one of your performances.

Yes, I know that it exists, but I was a bit surprised that another forum member seems to have got hold of a copy. Unless, of course, I love Xenakis and Joe Patrych are one and the same person (which I really doubt, in fact). I sent him a pm but he hasn't replied! I wonder why?

And I'm also reliably informed that Soliloquy is certainly not good ol' Patrych. I think I've run into him before, however.

Jonathan,

We await patiently and eagerly for your approved recording.  If it is video, even better.

If we can do it like with the buildings before they are built, coming soon!  I would be glad to buy my copy of the DVD now in advance.

If I may recommend a venue, Palau Guell, in Barcelona.  I assume you would use a Bosendorfer, but what do I know.

A fan,

Ah, this is an excellent idea. Too bad I couldn't apply. ;)

Can you listen to the currently finished parts anywhere?

All these were done by JCarey

Kind of interesting, but why's the sound quality so awful? Obviously one shouldn't expect much of midi-created files encoded as MP3s but they're considerably worse than one might hope for. They also sound very uneven but I suspect that's a side-effect of _over_-even 'playing' (i.e. we're used to hearing real pianists subtly vary rhythm moment by moment so that it makes sense to us).
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

I think they are far far far far better than I could ever hope for.

Thanks for the link.

Too much reeverb in the audio though, better fix that!

Other than that, sounds pretty good.
