Sometimes I use pop music for sight-reading and arranging-on-the-spot practice-- the trick to pop music is to never play exactly what is on the page.

That being said, I have a few books of 100+ "songs" each, and I read through them all from time to time.

I must admit to the odd bit of Elton John. I even put on my large glasses to play it.

Whilst not considered as pop, i am rather proud of my Fats Waller impression.

I think i will compose a piece called the OC Blues.

When i was in secondary shool i would play Hello by Lionel Richie for singers and then in college  i played a lot of pop music for female singers as a performing art students, thats before i became a serious student. Actually i know its illegal but can someone post the notes for the Lionel Richie song , it will remind me of secondary school, the good old days.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
