Does anyone know if there are English lyrics to this German Christmas carol?

Fröhliche Weihnacht!
Überall tönet durch die Lüfte froher Schall.
Weihnachtston
Weihnachtsbaum
Weihnachtsduft in jedem Raum !
Fröhliche Weihnacht!
Überall tönet durch die Lüfte froher Schall.

A German colleague insists that this actually was originally an English song and so naturally I should know the words.  I'd never heard it before I came to Germany!

Any ideas? (He wants the choir to sing a verse in English and keeps nagging ...)

"I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
W.B. Yeats
