Weird problem
on: October 20, 2005, 10:55:23 PM
Or perhaps it's normal. I've been playing for about two years, and whenever I get to certain passages, my hand freezes up as if the keys were forcibly pushing it away. It's making me go insane. My hand just does not want to move even though my brain wants it to, then I get this anxiety in my head and I have to stop playing for a bit. I really want to play more elaborate pieces, but this 'thing' is totally restricting me. It usually occurs around 16th notes, but also around passages I have no specific qualms with—just regular series' of notes and stuff. Seems slightly random. I dunno, this is just driving me crazy.

Greetings.
I may know what you are experiencing because sometimes i also get stuck and can't go on. You should try to make sure you are completely relaxed when playing the fast notes, or any notes actually. Completely relaxed. Make sure to play the passages slowly with complete control. It is very important to make sure that you know that you can do the passage. It is possible that you just think that you can't and that makes it much harder. Always think that you can and play slowly, completely relaxed, never stressing about it. Perhaps the passages just need more work. Well, I hope that you will succeed.

there are limits to how fast your hand can go, especialy at your level, some people might find this strange, but i feel as if i perform fast passages better in warmer weather, when my hands are not cold
mabey you should cut your hand off and put it in the microwave under lump-o-meet defrost and then stick it back on
