Thanks for those. Haven't seen the Yundi Li one yet but I can't believe how utterly stoical Hamelin is at the keyboard! It's hilarious. If I hadn't seen the piano I might have thought it was a computer keyboard he was sitting at.
thats his own ironic style of comedy, to do it all with a serious face, as though he just played beethoven op111 or liszt sonata or something.
Yeah, I don't know if he was doing it intentionally but I definitely got an ironic vibe from him! I especially liked the sombre bow at the end...
I hadn't heard him play this piece before, but I think I actually prefer this one to Cziffra's. He messes around with the rhythm a bit too much for my taste. And that cadenza!
