Scott the piano guy.
What do you think of his teaching method. I know his way is not great for classical music or even recommended, but what about starting students.
Really, he preaches a lot of things we often talk about.
Bring the melody down to it's basic.
What chord is the left hand playing.
Practice the chords and in our case the scale that goes with the piece you are learning.
Don't spend an eternity learning all scales or chord if you are not going to use them. (I have heard this often in our forum.)
Something my teacher says a lot,
make sure no matter how many mistakes you do that you hit the first note of every measure on time.
What do you think of his method of diagrams for chords learning.
I don't like that he does not incorporate theory with his style of teaching, but I think that is just for TV.
I am sure he would still go threw all of that if he gave a private course, just would not harp on it.
My daughter frowns every time she sees him on TV, but I like it.I am just not sure how much of what he teaches can really be used in real life. I mean I use to watch that painting guy on TV and loved that, but I could not paint like him for the life of me.

Greetings
I've watched his 'infomercial' on TV. Basically, I think his method for teaching people how to play, apart from the commercial aspect of it, is for those who don't have much in the way of musical ability and don't really want to spend a lot of time becoming proficient on the instrument.
They just want to be able to play a simple melody with a chord accompaniment that sounds half-decent. I have no problem with that, as it may allow people that have no interest or strong musical ability to enjoy playing the piano.
For myself, I can't take him too seriously, but many people seem to be buying his course, for the amount of money he is spending putting his commercials on TV.
Cheers
