Funnily enough, these are the exact pieces that I am casually learning! Not taking the exam though, just for the challenge!

The Arensky piece is my favorite, an absolute classic. Im finding it a bit diffcult putting all the elements together though, for example, getting the pedalling right on that rolled interval in bar 3. No problem HS, but HT is screwing me up  ;D

The Scarlatti piece seems pretty straight forward. With this one Im sure its just a matter of going through the motions - learning HS, note dropping HT, then getting it perfected up to tempo.

Iv heard people say that the Mozart piece is very easy, but I dont see it myself! Im sure there are much more difficult pieces about, but this still seems to have its challenges. Getting the first couple of bars up to speed, HT isnt easy, not for me atleast.

Im also in the process of learning grade 8 and my pieces I have chosen are:

A1;Allemande.
B1;Allegro assai
C1;Impromptu

I started all 3 begginning September.Ive almost got the first 4 pages down for Allemande ,the first 3 pages for Allegro assai and the first 2 pages for Impromtu although not up to speed but timing and technique are almost there.

I am finding it very difficult in trying to learn all 3 pieces together. Is this the general aproach that you also take or do you get 1 learned before you start the 2nd and then the 3rd piece?

Regards
Daz

hey thx!

actually now i'm 15 now and i just have my results for grade 7. i got only a merit but my aim is to get a distinction.

well, actually i'm not sure whether i should change my piece because i find out that the A1 is quite easy n not so challenging. and the C1 i think its a very nice piece but i prefer C2 which is more lively and nice!

this year's syllabus the C list is quite tough to play, don't u all agree?

and can anyone help me to solve my sight readings problems? i alwanys tend to become nervous when i play the sight reading. huh, i don't know why?

so i think u all must be very good in playing piano, am i right? can i know the your(3 of u that post reply to me) age?

thx! cheers!

I am also taking the Grade 8 next year, but I am taking it with the Victoria College of Music. (I take theory exams with ABRSM). I will be 21 when I take the G8 next year.

The pieces I selected are:

Bach - Fugue In C Minor (Book I, No.2 of the 48)
Grieg - Minuet from Piano Sonata, Op.7 (I aim to impress with this one, its a showy piece)
Arnold - Andante Con Moto, Second movement from Piano Sonata

I have completed the Bach fugue, and half of the Grieg minuet. I am yet to start the Malcolm Arnold piece, but I will start this soon when the other 2 pieces are more tidy.
