Now, I have seem the latest 15th International Chopin Piano Competition videos on the internet.  And I must say, some of them looked really goofy. What's up with these body movements and goofy facial expressions of these pianists.  I've seem some of these pictures, and I couldn't stop laughing. Can't they just play the piano without making a fool out of themselves.   ::) ???

This always happens

Lang Lang for example, he looks like he reaches orgasm so frequently, and its very entertaining to watch his expressions, it just keeps you laughing even when he starts playing Traumerei. Especially when he rolls his eyes and starts using the facial muscles where most of us don't have, omg

They think it makes them look professional and integrated into the music, hehe.

Rubenstin and Horowitz in particular had to be seen on stage and not just heard, one is soon reminded that they were the true masters of the piano, infact Horowitz seemd as though he didnt want anyone to see him play thae piano, in every climax he had a cool calm mystical presense, but of course their was a volcano exploding, am always redused to tears his power came from his heart not his arm legs or face etc. These youger guys shoud be heard and not seen.

Masturbating should be allowed before or after performing, but not during performance.   8)

This thread seems to have quite a lot in common - potentially, at least - with that entitled
Body movements : The Opera singer vs The Pianist. What's the deal ?

I'll add no more right now, having already contributed a fair bit to that...

To the English composer Anthony Payne's remark that he'd often tried to convince people that it is perfectly possible to love both Webern and Delius, I once (with tongue admittedly in at least one cheek) replied "but you'd not seek to make it compulsory, would you?". Likewise, perhaps, with the above activity pre- or post-performance...

Scriabin did it during performances.

Aaayy-men to that.

Body movement is important, but shouldn't be overdone. Facial expressions are just stupid and useless. They make you look like you're faking the emotion of the piece.
