X number of letters from the front of this word must be the same X letters from the end of the 1st word.

Scoring:
Person gets X * (length of new word) points. (not that i know how to tally the points, unless someone wants to volunteer:D)

Eg: Water -> Terrace = 3 * 7 = 21 Points.

please add the following adjustments to future posts

1) Overlapping letters should be in UPPERCASE. where as the rest are in lowercase
2) Please calculate your score and post it below. I'll still check though, so no cheating.

and also this added rules

3) all words must be found in Dictionary.com.
4) in the event that i find a word to be eligible for disqualification, the word itself will not be removed from play, but the person who played that word will not receive any points.

Hehe, I expected this - when someone plays exactly to the rules and uses an optimum strategy you change them

Linguistic + s == 110 points [and there are better suffixes]. Far more attractive than the 56 scored, so yeah, it'd pay to alter the scoring. Working out the average per play would stop the game being won by whomever has the most time to waste too

yes i'm working on that too. I can't find a solution to that though. The only way i think of is to reduce the points of the previous person's word depending on how many letters overlap on the next word. That would make people think twice before posting a word... and in that case i might just allow whole words overlapping. Just no plurals.

Why not make it old letters * added letters rather than old letters * length of new word.

That way a plural scores about the same as the trivial case of using just the last letter of the previous word.

e.g Rob's 143 score would be 22.

leah: that is a very good idea perhaps thenext round. as for the "wasting time posting here" thing, maybe i shall average the score by dividing the score by the number of posts.
