Beethoven Trio op. 11 and Arensky op. 32
on: October 28, 2005, 03:26:30 PM
25th october was international internet day. Our trio was asked to play a short concert that would be transmited LIVE on the internet. We have only been playing together for less than a month, so we worked like crazy on repertoire (its not the same trio  I played with last year). We played this Beethoven and 2 movements of Arensky. There were a few accidents, and I am not a clean player at all :), although I think my string players are amazing. Anyways, you can still listen to it at:

What do you think?

The sound is messed up at different parts (especially in the beginning), but otherwise I liked it. ;D

Yeah, I never was a very clean player (although God knows I try). There are some pretty bad clinkers all over the place (and the piano had a couple of notes that wouldnt stop sounding even after you depressed the sustain pedal, so it also sounds messy because of that). The beggining is especially bad because I didnt know the tape had started so I was kind of warming up, it wasnt until after the first fermata that I realized the transmition had already begun. (What sounds really bad are the 20 seconds of warming up the put in there at the VERY VERY beggining, the actual recording doesnt start until about 15 minutes later).

There are many parts where we are specially uncoordinated, but thats normal since weve been only playing together for about 3 weeks, and the program was very new. Hope we get better. This month, were working on the Brahms C minor trio and an arrangement of Piazzola's "La muerte del Angel". I think Beethoven and Arensky are in our repertoire pretty much now.

Those Beethoven variations have got to be some of the silliest music of his Ive seen.

"Before I work I must eat".... indeed, very wise :)

Things sound so terrible in retrospect. I just looked at the link and I realized that there are 15 minutes of nothing, before the actual playing begins.... lol

Dont click on the link, type in the address, its not supposed to have an "https://" on it. I write this because my brother and some friends from home have written to me several times telling me the link doesnt work.
