another mental practice thread

ok, i have a problem..
i live in israel and here we must do army
i join the army next week  :-\
VERY fortunetaly i got a job that i come every day home and friday-saturday i'm at home.

but on the first month i will see home only on weekends and not even that is certin.

so i have some pieces that i learnt and i would like to practice them (they are already learnt, i want to keep them in my head)

so i searched about mental practice here and i got preety confused,
i got the piece in my mind, i can play it, i want to mental-practice it, what do i do??

i'm no expert at all but you can try this:

-first play it in your mind while you are watching your hands (imagine it)
- then play it in your mind while you are watching your score (imagine it)
- then play it in your mind while "feeling" what your hand is doing (i cannot explain it better). I mean focus on the sensing side of it.

Pay attention to a slowdown in your mental execution: that are often difficult spots. Some notes will seem "blurred": these are the ones you don't remember well: look at the score again to practice these spots.

Also try to learn a new piece (that is easy for you) away from the piano. It will better show you were your problems are while practicing mentally because for the pieces you know you have already surmounted your problems "with the help of your physical hand".

Notice that it will be a lot more difficult to practice 2 hands together mentally then HS!

You can draw a keyboard and put it under your bed at the army so you can always refer to it to check out how far exactly the keys are apart...
