Goes wrong 2nd time round...
on: November 03, 2005, 09:30:30 PM
Many pieces in variation form are in a binary form per variation, written AB, but usually with written repeats, so performed AABB or AAB. I've noticed that when when playing these, I can play the first A alright, but often stumble on the second A, and the same goes for the second of the two B's. Assume the text is unchanged per A/B, i.e. no second-time bars.

If I can play it OK the first time, why can't I do so the second time? What's going on here?  ???

maybe concentration / mental approach   8)

try learning your next piece backwards that is start with the last measure and work to the front with the 7/20 method...

see that's weird, cos whenever i play something the 2nd time round it's usually 10 times better than the first...so i'd say yeah maybe it's your concentration
