I'm tired. 

I have a long list of things to do.  There's no way I can possibly get it all done, but I have things that need to be done tomorrow.

And I need to practice more.

But I'm tired, so all I feel like doing is sleeping now.


Any way out of this?

I'm sure you know about prioritizing, making A, B, and C lists, and all that... :P

I just heard about the 10 + 2 method: Make your list. Choose something and work on it for 10 minutes (set a timer).  After the 10 minutes, goof off for 2 minutes (use the timer again). Repeat the process...you can do this 5 times in a hour; you will have accomplished or made progress on up to 5 things, and had 5 little goof-off breaks.  I haven't used this method yet, but I have found the timer very useful for tackling large unpleasant tasks...I figure I can handle almost anything for 15 or 20 minutes.  And, if I know that that's the only thing I have to focus on for that time, I can really concentrate.

Add sleeping to the list, set your goal for "success" as achieving at least one item on your list per day. Go to bed on time and you're a success.

I use this idea in conjunction with piano practice. I use the breaks between practice sessions to stay on top of the perpetual household chores (dishes, laundry, clutter). I don't time myself for anything, just switch tasks after a certain amount has been done or I feel I've spent enough time on it... The internet is my biggest enemy right now, it sometimes eats up my practice-breaks.
