Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges. Want to Participate in the Piano Society?
on: November 06, 2005, 10:33:00 PM
Greetings,

I am sure members of this forum have heard of Piano Society (www.pianosociety.com), which I partly founded some years back. This site is growing all the time, and consequently we have a lot of things to do in terms of article writing, recording management, web design and other tasks. Thus, we currently have some "openings" for people who are interested in administering functions of the site. Work can be pretty much in any field of Piano Society, but the person in question has to be able to show up at the site reasonably often. Apart from that, there are no requirements but interest in piano music.

So, any interested parties should let me know at erik@pianosociety.com as soon as possible, as the number of moderators / admins we need is limited. You can also PM me here of course, though it may take longer before I reply.

Thanks.

Just to clarify, since a few people that contacted me have misunderstood the post somewhat and it seems to need some clarification. Piano Society should not be seen as a forum, but rather it is a website that has an added forum. Thus, any help we request has to relate to the actual site (articles, content management, reviewing recordings, web design etc) rather than just to moderating the forum, which is something we do not need particularly large resources for.

Thanks for the replies and the interested parties that we have accepted for the site. Still could do with 1-2 more, so be sure to let me know quickly if you are interested.
