Piano Bench... tilting... what's wrong?
on: November 08, 2005, 04:58:40 AM
I got a "artists bench", one of those that has the knobs on the side for height adjustment.
I just got it three months ago. I'm not a super heavy guy, but now it's slightly tilted over to the side that I've been sitting on.
Am I supposed to rotate sides on the bench like a bed?

Mine does the same thing (I bought a duet bench, also about 3 months ago!). I don't know if there's anything wrong, but I do switch sides, or positions occasionally so I can even it out.
I think it's just settling since it was brand new, but maybe someone else who has had one for a long time can enlighten us!

I've had one of those for eighteen months now and I found that setting it anywhere except right down led to a hua of a noise - creaks, cracks and groans. I tightened the screws and put vaseline on those folding things but it didn't help. Fortunately I need it right down but I don't know how short, heavy people would get on. It hasn't tilted yet but I sit dead centre. It seems pretty flimsily made to me even though it cost a lot. If it ever breaks I wouldn't buy another one like it, I'd get something more solid.
