I've read a lot of books on piano playing. None of them describes clearly finger, wrist or arm movements. No book indicates clearly the role of each part of our whole apparatus. It is sad to say that, for example, no clear answer is given when you try to understand, from a theoretical point of view, how to use your finger when you play only one note on a single key. NO DETAILED DESCRIPTION of the finger stroke!!!! NO PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS!!!!
IF I AM WRONG then tell me...........

Greetings.

You may be right that there is no single method for technique written. There are many, many approaches to technique and many of course not written. One has to practice using a variety of technique to get results. There is no one single method that everyone has to follow, however when many methods are combined, then you get better results. I am just a student, but am pretty sure of my answer. Many sources will have different approaches. For example like stydying Bach's works. (I currently study little preludes and fugues and the inventions). I use many editions, applying their suggestions such as correct fingering, articulation, ect. Using a variety of sources enhances learning. Same with technique. Glad to help. ;D

You made it quite clear that we have to pick up what suits us the most. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to find the answer, because you have to experiment it by yourself. It could take years......

True it could take years. However once you get the stuff you will be practicing much more efficiently. I would rather spend years and years researching different ways to study composers such as Bach, Debussy and their music, using different sources, then just play using only one idea. The more information the better your playing. Yes it could take years and it would, but it is worth it.

I have found one, which sounds excellent.  Check out N. Jane Tan's 'The Well Prepared Pianist'.  She talks about fingers, wrist and arm motion quite specifically , and what gesture to use for what style of piano playing.  For instance, you would use one motion for classical, a slightly different one for romantic music.  She talkes exactly about how to use every part of the body, in fact, right from the beginning.  It sounds like an excellent method.

Greetings.

Yes I agree with pizno's comment. Many playing techniques are available and there should be an aquaintance with many.

Best Wishes to all. :)
