Trill Fingering Preferences
on: November 15, 2005, 03:57:48 AM
I printed out Bach's Invention #1 last night and I've been working on memorizing the first few bars.

I noticed today that the natural fingering I've been using puts fingers 4-3 on the first and second trills and the first mordent and fingers 2-1 on the 3rd trill.

However, today I noticed that the other version on this site always suggests 3-2. Is this the way to go? I generally don't see a problem with the way 4-3 sounds (though I'm awfully suspicious about my 2-1 trill). Since, ALWAYS using 3-2 would force me to lift my hand, I'm wondering what to do.

Can someone maybe give me a bit of beginner guidance here?

yeah, I am beginner as well, and my teacher tells me to learn how to trill with 2-3 fingers on both hands, since they are the easiest for trill for most people......

Now, I can trill with 2-3, and try to learn with 3-4.... dont wanna even mention 4-5 trill.. :)
