Recital Repertoire
on: November 16, 2005, 11:59:37 PM
I am preparing for a piano recital and I can't make up my mind between two pieces. One is Scherzo in B-Flat Major by Franz Shubert or Notturno by Edvard Grieg. I am currently in level 5 and if you could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. I mainly just want to know which piece you think would be easier with my level. I find that some of the chords in Notturno are a little difficult for me to reach as I have small hands, but I can manage if I need to. Thanks.

I remember playing the Schubert piece you mentioned and still can play it from memory. Schubert is my favorite composer, but Grieg isn't too far behind. Learn them both, and play the Schubert.

Hello!
I think that Schubert is little bit easier for playing, but I think that yuo could play Nocturne; it'll be better for your musical development and for making much more colors in playing..
But, I agre, you should try to lerned them both, bortha are beutifull pieces.
And if you want to be a pianist, you should have a big apettite-big repertoire!!
GOOD LUCK!!
