So, I've had a little chat with a conductor...

...and ended up with an offer to play Grieg's concerto.  :D

I've been playing for what would add up to five years of "hard-line" playing in practice time, but overally, I'm with the piano for eleven years. Currently, I'm trying to tackle some of the TEs (1, 2, 11). The question is, should I do it? I do like this concert very much and playing it is one of my pianistic dreams, but I'm still a bit doubtful about whether I'd be able to cope with the challenge... I have about three years to do it, but I'm not at a music school - I'm at high school, and will be graduating from it by the time the concerto would be done, which is going to be quite demanding time-wise... So it is quite a dilemma.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

Heehee... Practise, practise... I'm also in school. I make the time for piano. It comes first. Schoolwork I fit in where I can, and quite often I do not go to school to practise. But I do NOT fall behind in schoolwork, everything is always up to date. Even if I just sleep an hour or two later that night.

I say do it. You have tons of time to learn it.

Enjoy!
I dont play an instrument, I play the piano.

*sigh* Wish my parents would understand that... Plus I'm forced to sleep for seven hours or so... I'd be happy with two of those dedicated to the piano...

Just read the 2nd movement... Making progress...  :D

Discuss it with your teacher. Let's face it, the opportunities offered to a pianist to play with an orchestra are far and few....so...?

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
