so, where do i start?

I am tremendously interested in learning my keys, but I am as broke as a joke!  I've been learning about composition, and would like to get a feel for an instrument, as I think it would help me to understand music better, in general.  Also, I would simply like to be able to play an instrument, and keys seem the most... dynamic?

So, it would be very hard for me to afford lessons, and I can't seem to find any for the TwinCities area of MN.  I certainly can't afford schooling on the subject.  I've been trying to learn on my own, and trying hard, but to no avail.

Does anyone know a place where I can find a good(cheap?) piano/keyboard teacher? :\
Is there a website or something?

P.S. - Everyone starts so young.. does it really take that long to learn?  I feel like I could get the hang of it fairly quickly if I had some guidance, but with the urgency people seem to push "starting young," I get the impression that I won't get very far.

Thanks in advance,
Eric, 22, MN
