I think it comes down to the point of sefishness for the Midgets. Obviously many Midgets will be killed and others wounded, but undoubtedly the Midgets will win over the Lion if they dont act like its every midget for him/her self. There will sacrifices and heroes made on this day if the Midgets are to survive.

i still say that no sacrifice has to be made.  the lion is an animal.  all animals have weaknesses.  there must be a way to get the lion distracted.  but, being an animal lover- it pains me to think of spectator sports.  i think animals have every right to live out a full life just as humans should be able to.  there must be an escape hatch that the midgets can crawl under/through - unlatch - and hope that the lion goes back into.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Enough said.

.... on a side note:

Thats 17 midgets right there, imagine that twice to get an idea. You people imagine an army of blood thirsty crazed midgets. 40 midgets is not that many, especially against the king of the jungle. I have nothing against them, they are all probably very nice people. Lets face it though, they are going to die.

Who would win in a fight?

I think its lion, no question about it.

Lion implies male, a useless beast of burden. Don't let the fancy haircut and the shouting fool you. He might be at the head of the dinner table, but the lioness is the killing machine and the one to watch.

Unless they are by themselves, they hunt in packs, when it's nearly dark and even then they still only manage to catch 1 in a huge number every now and again, often resorting to scavaging stuff that fell over nearby.

The midgets OTOH, don't be fooled by their size, they have the same advanced processor as the larger models - they've been known to stock supermarkets, even when they don't feel peckish.

The only chance the lion has is if the fight is choreographed by whoever does Kung Fu movies.

Ahmedito,

You are also assuming that the Lion is a bloodthirsty beast, were as in fact, Lions are extremely lazy. 'The slacker of the jungle'

The Lion cannot possibly fight 40 midgets or whatever at once if they swarmed.

Every living being has a weakness, for example: A Crocodile can easily kill almost every animal on its turf, but it can only take about two or three people to stop a Crodile in its tracks by clamping its mouth shut. Only Humans have this ability to exploit a animals weakness.

If a flea can kill 75 million people, I am sure 4 midgets would do for a lion.

now, what tds has done in the province where komodo island lies was prolly less exciting than arensky's life adventure. nonetheless his is obviously more historical! how so? ok,  on august 27, 2005, at 19.00 WITA ( local time ), the name 'tds' was jotten down and since known as the very first pianist to ever give a full solo recital in the province.

How very cool! But where did you play? After Komodo my ship went to a town on Flores called Larantuka. Unless there has been substantial development there I cannot imagine a piano recital there..were you in Timor, or somewhere on Sumbawa?  I think Bali and Lombok (Lombok is great, wonderful snorkeling) are in another province....

arensky, your geographical knowledge is quite sharp. recital was done in kupang, the capital city of ntt province ( province of east south eastern islands). no komodos there.

Lions like to sleep around (ie, conserve their energy for the bloodshed), but I never heard of a lion falling asleep while attacking a pack of wildebeast.
