Suggestions for late Scriabin? (shorter works)
on: November 29, 2005, 08:25:38 PM
I'm interested in learning some late Scriabin, but I don't know where to start, as I've only sightread a bit of it and I don't have any recordings to refer to. I'm interested in learning some shorter, not-too-taxing pieces (i.e., no difficult etudes, or other pieces on the level of his etudes). Do you have any favorites to recommend?

Thanks in advance,

-M

The ones that spring immediately to mind are Albumleaf, op.58, Two Pieces op.59, Two Preludes op.67, Two Dances op.72, Five Preludes op.74.

You may be interested in this book of collected miniatures and other pieces.  I have it along with the other two in the Dover set.

Thanks for the link! If you purchase the "other works," etudes/preludes, and sonatas all together on amazon it costs a total of just 35 dollars. That doesn't sound like a deal I could possibly pass up!  ;D
