Hyperion Records- Will you undertake the challenge??
on: November 29, 2005, 11:55:04 PM
Pianoforum members,

I am posting this here as well because it is such a well read board...

Starting from where I left off before.....are we brave enough to undertake this challenge?

The Hyperion case is an absolute tragedy and Dr Sawkins should be ashamed of himself, aside from the legal aspects of the case, for initiating such an arrangement with his lawyers which would clearly send Hyperion under.  What other few companies in Britain other than Hyperion have the resources and desire to record music such as that which Dr Sawkins is interested in.

His work became far more public by virtue of Hyperion's recording.

Maybe the pianoforum should undertake the Hyperion challenge.  Many people come on to this forum praising the virtues of Hamelin, Hough, Demidenko, Hewitt etc.  We also complain when we quite find quality recordings of works. So.....instead of trying to bootleg everything maybe we could donate some $$ to Hyperion...and maybe even support the stars of the future.

Follow this link to donate:

There are nearly 10 000 members of the PF (not all active I know) but if we all donate 3 pounds that is at least a start..

Cheers

I think its a great idea to post this in every board. Seeing as how it is so important.
