Rachmaninoff Prelude Op 32 no 12 in G# minor
on: November 30, 2005, 05:13:43 PM
Hey all,

I've been hearing some nice Rachmaninoff on here lately, and I located a recording I made a couple of years ago.  Not perfect at all  :P but here it is just for fun.  I have since worked on it more, and it ages well.

I forgot to say something you need to letgo be a little more risky with this prelude, i play like that when am trying to be accurate. It sounds too safe.

Really nice!! :)

You catch the atmosfere, intimacy and the sound is also very beauitifull..
If you could just play with little more fluency, it would be more exciting..

Hey, thanks, all!

You guys are right on the money.  I recorded this awhile back, and hearing it, I realized I needed to "let go" more.  In fact, I even made that comment on someone else's posting of a Rach prelude on here--that I had played it a bit  too cautiously.  The rippling effect is rather atmospheric, and the hardest thing is to get all the sections to flow into each other in a fluent manner.  Since that recording, I've learned the notes more securely, and that is what allows more abandon in the overall performance.

Thanks for the nice words, and I will take your advice!  :)

Well played Teresa! This is also one of my favorite pieces by Rachmaninoff. I should like to tackle it one day. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks!  I really love this piece, too.  I think it's accessible, but definitely challenging.  And it doesn't seem to get tiresome.  I have found the more I go back to it, the more comfortably I can just let loose with it, which improves it tremendously.  Go for it!

I forgot to ask. Does anyone have the sheet music to this piece (free)?
