if you want a professional job, you really have to ask a professional composer/transcriber - etc.  who has good handwriting (that you can read) or a computer that works all the parts out precisely.  something that is not entirely accurate can be frustrating to play.  i hope that i am not invading a privacy - but the name gordon beeferman in nyc was recommended as a professional in this matter.  his handwriting is impeccable and he's done some interesting things with harmony (adding twists) that are modern - and perfectly suitable for recital.

i don't know how much he charges - but it would be a professional job.

i'd do something small for free - but i can't guarantee the quality.  you could compare the two for a laugh.

you might want to transcribe the piece yourself with this:

www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html

it slows the music down and doesn't change the pitch.
someday there will be some computer program that transcribes music for us, right?!

No, mp3 files don't contain information about the music itself.

No, mp3 files don't contain information about the music itself.

Actually, they do. They contain binaries which, after decodified, correspond to sound waves, which, on their turn, do contain information about the music itself: frequencies. Whether we will ever be able to translate those sound frequencies (which, at each minimum time slice, contains a composite of all notes which have been simultaneously played) turn into distinctly writeable voices, I can't tell for sure (though I wouldn't bet we won't).

it would be nice!  transcribing is a languishing yet sort of enjoyable thing when completed and you can play whatever...but the languish would melt if you just plugged in the mp3 and out came the printed music.  they do this with cameras now - printing out the film directly - so why not with music?

piantisimo... the song Im looking to transcribe is rele simple... as that is all that is played (in the piano part) there is a brass section but Im not worried about that at all..... if the transcriber wanted to add a little of their personal touch i wouldnt mind..... or adapt to the song i.e taking the brass section or bass and trascribing it as piano..... although piano can definitely be heard throughout even in the ''loudest'' parts

Ill upload the song now

If now one wants to transcribe it (and I will pay - providing you have a paypal account (its free))

I just tried to use the program and althought mildly successful the resulting sheet music was crazy and all over the plkace, you could hear the tune but the notation was absolutely crazy, not simple chordsl ike in the actual song, I think it was trying to compensate for the brass section etc.... but Ill give it a go with more singula piano songs

hmmm I been trying to work out the chords and I think they are something like this:

1st verse:

Bb (intro) - Eb - D (?) - Cm7 - Bb - Ab - Ab(7) - Eb - Bb(turnaround)

2nd verse:

Eb - D - Cm7 - Ab - (stuck on this one) possibly Adim7??? -  Ab A Bb (turnaround)

3rd Verse:

Eb - D - Cm7 - Bb - Ab - Ab(7) - Eb - Bb(turnaround)

Chorus:

Eb ... C7 - F7 - C7 Eb (My interpretation anyway???)

4th verse:

Bb (intro) - Eb - D (?) - Cm7 - Bb - Ab - Ab(7) - Eb - Bb(turnaround)

5th verse:

Eb - D - Cm7 - Ab - (stuck on this one) possibly Adim7??? -  Ab A Bb (turnaround)

6th Verse:

Eb - D - Cm7 - Bb - Ab - Ab(7) - Eb - Bb(turnaround)

Chorus:

Eb ... C7 - F7 - C7 Eb (My interpretation anyway) - turnaround

Finale ;)

Bb (2 bars) - Eb (2 bars)

Ab - A - Bb (2 Bars)

then repeats

to finally end on Eb???

anyone care to comment?

I will post up a recording soon as :)

I don't know which song you're talking about, but harmonically it would make sense if your "D(?)" were a Bb/D (notes D-F-Bb), that is, an inversed Bb chord, with the bass in D (its major third), perhaps with a 7th (it's pretty common in these cases, too), that is, Bb7/D (D-F-Ab-Bb).

One thing you can do to figure out the chords is to use the "repeat A-B" feature which most CD players have in order to repeat the chord you want to know, just half a second or so, in such a way that the chord keeps sounding almost uninterruptedly. Then, starting at the bassmost note, you try to "complete" the chord by "testing" which notes can be heard in that continuous sound.

Regards,
    Vinicius.
