Etudes Op. 25 - Chopin video
on: December 04, 2005, 01:13:05 AM
This subject probaby doesn't belong here but anyway....

I was browsing the web for piano video performances and came upon this web site called piano-e-competition. It had an excellent AVI format piano performances though i only got the chance to watch one performance which was by a women named Danilowa who played the entire Op. 25 etudes straight through-including the one piece I have always wanted to see someone perform-Winter Wind Étude (no. 11). There was another person who played the same etudes but unfortunately i have dial-up. There were numerous of other well knowned rarely played pieces in this site.

Here's the site for whoevers interested in watching some of the performances:

Enjoy.  Edit- I thought I posted this in the Repetoire section  :-\

Etudes op. 25 was playd like a accomplished concert pianist. I have recently recorded a number of songs, one of them is me playing Etude op. 25 num1, the difference is obvious, i will try to post the video to the audition room at some point.

Good video! Thanks for posting  :D
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

I watched some of this competition live, and have also seen alot of the videos.  The sound is far from ideal but they are still very enjoyable.

I would recommend especially Chpin etudes op. 25 played byt the other girl who played them, the asian one (forgot the name).  Despite not making it to the finals she received a special award for that performance.

I also liked many of the performances by Jie chen (the eventual winner), Benjamin Fong, Konstantin Krasnitsky, and Hanna Shybayeva (sp?), although I'm sure there are gems among the other performances as well.

Hopefully next year they will find a way to have better sound quality.

They are stored in the 'Temporary internet files' folder as .flv files. Here's some instructions on how to access it:

https://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsnetworking/ht/findtempfiles.htm

Refresh the window (F5) and copy these files to another folder (optional), and play with FLV player (from download.com).

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
