Bartok Out of Doors Suite
on: December 04, 2005, 11:25:18 PM
Wow, 55 people have looked at my Bartok question and no replies!  Doesn't anyone out there play Bartok?  Has anyone played the Out of Doors Suite?  I'm posting this again to keep it sinking into oblivion.

Oh, the question was perhaps, what do you think, level of difficulty, was it a fun piece to work on, is there other Bartok you prefer, or anything else you might want to add.

It is a great piece and I really enjoy playing it.  As for difficulty I think the Out of Doors Suite as a whole is in the difficult category, up there with the Sonata and the 2 Elegies.  It is harder than the op 14 Suite.  If you had to put a grade on it I would think around the Licentiate-Fellowship standard.

I really like all Bartok, although my favourite is probably the Allegro Barbaro!

Good luck

Thanks, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for.  I have a CD and the sheet music is on order, so I haven't actually looked at the score yet.   Should be interesting!

great piece-first movement quite a physical assault, and some awkward corners if hands small.  important to keep the lyric aspect in view IMO - hope u enjoy!

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
