Foote piano quintet
on: December 05, 2005, 01:32:52 AM
Hello everyone!

I have been searching the internet for Arthur Foote's piano quintet music score (I have the Naxos recording, which is pretty good) but without results.

I know that Arthur P. Schmidt was the original publisher in Boston, but I can't find them on the web (I don't know if they still exist). Anyone knows where I can get this score ? Thanks.

Never mind, I found it (Rochester university library has the quintet posted online for free download, both the full score and the string parts... don't you love these libraries).

It's a very tough quintet for the pianist, it actually looks like a concerto for piano and string quartet. Shamefully neglectged though. But well, I'm gonna have fun!

This is a great piece! You're right, it's like the Franck Quintet, a sort of mini-concerto. Hope the string players are up for it, it's difficult for them too...
