Recording Equipment
on: December 12, 2005, 09:46:46 PM
Im now selling a good PC that i dont need in my house so i can fund for some recording equipment. i was hoping that you guys could help me out in choosing some recording equipment, so that i can put it on a computer, from there on to CDs and forums etc.

my price range is within £400-500 which is rougly $800-1000 US. i need digital recording equipment and a good microphone. when i do the recordings i will probably try and get to a hall or something for good acoustics.

I liked Gaer's recording sound quality and im hoping you could help me out. unfortunately i dont know a lot about recording equipment brands and prices (i just study the physics ;) ). Analogue would be too expensive for good quality and im hoping to be able to put the recordings onto a computer.

Thanks for reading.

also, i am mainly a singer and thats what i will be studying at a conservatoire in a year or two, so if you can note that i would like to buy the equipment that would be good for singing aswell as piano (but mainly good quality for singing).

Here is a thread I started when I went on my microphone search:

Microphone manufacturers websites often give useful information the different types of mics and their uses.
https://www.audio-technica.com/cms/site/cb226162b8ac177e/index.html

I find this site useful for browsing the different equipment available.  Items are categorized by type so it is easy to compare prices from different brands.

I currently own two Studio Projects B1 mics with an Edirol UA-25 interface.  Feel free to ask any specifics.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

What do you think of this mic?

I'm thinking of plugging a mic directly the audio in port on a laptop. Would this work?
