kemble and others
on: December 15, 2005, 09:34:11 PM
i plan to buy a piano,
in France Kemble is not very known but a salesman proposes the K121ZT model for 7000 euros, he's very fan of this british brand and of the german schimmel,
what do members think of Kemble and this model 121,
compared with yamaha , which model of yam is nearest (p121, u1, u3....)
i also hesitate with :
- seiler 122 primus
- schimel 124 (classic)
- schimmel 122 SE (concert line)
my maximum is 9000 euros for an upright piano,
i don't know anything in piano, it's for my daughter, she's too young to prefere one or other and wants me to choose... (easy)
can u give me some advices,
would give me your own choice ?
thanks.

How exciting, buying your first piano.
With 9000 Euros you can buy a nice 1/4 grand piano used. It does not take much more space than the vertical and I suspect it would be a great motivator for your daughter.
I have heard that the best way to buy a piano in France is to find someone who already has one and ask them for an introduction to the piano shop owner who sold it to them.
It is quite common to get an agreement from the seller that you can trade in the piano once you are ready to upgrade. In America that trade in is regularly 100%, but then you loose some bargaining power on the new one. If you are dealing with an honorable seller, that should not be a problem.
I like Shimmel from the ones you mentioned. Unexpensive and good.

Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.
