The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

ATCL recital problems, pls help
on: December 20, 2005, 03:59:53 PM
I'm now preparing for the ATCL recital in the coming year.  I saw some people pick four songs in the program.  But I only got 3 pieces (coz 3 pieces already nearly 30 minutes).  Is it alright for me to take 3 pieces instead of 4 if the program last within 30-35 minutes?About the 10 % presentation.  Besides hand in the programme notes to examiner, do I need to answer any kind of questions like why I choose the piece or somethin about the composer?  I really mess up in this part.

thank you so much :-*

wow, the pieces you choose are really very technical demanding... and why you choose 4 pieces.  I remember the 32 variation is a very long piece...I hope I can play it too :-\
By the way, do you know whether we need to answer any of question by examiner?  Or just hand in the programme notes?  I've heard that there is viva voce in ATCL recital too.  But there is no mention on the trinity website....And I still wondering how to write a programme notes.  The staff there say there is some demo on the web, again, i can't find it.

i think that there is a viva of sorts but i'm not sure. my exam will be next december probably so i will start seriously working on it after march, when i finish my school final exams. i'll check out these things thoroughly then. if your's is soon, then try contacting the trinity board by email. they replied to my query the last time. the programme notes thing is always the catch, imo.
i think that for the recital you have to select 4 pieces. i think 2 are judged out of 30 marks and the other 2 out of 15 (or 25,25,20,20). but you need 4 pieces. which ones have u chosen?

But I've heard that some people even chose only 2 exam pieces in the recital exam.  And if I chose 4, it will definitely exceed 35 mins.

I chose B'thoven op26, bach's toccata in E minor and Faure Nocturnes

then i think the best thing to do will be to email them and check it out. plz tell me also if you can do less than 4 pieces. best of luck.
