Actually, I will openly admit my fond admiration of number 10.  But, no 13 is pretty da** amazing !!  I have not played it yet, though I plan to, and I am quite certain it already holds a place of equal or more importance within myself as/than does no 10.

(delicious)

No. 13 is sooooo close to being a perfect piece. The pitfall, in my opinion, occurs when he starts repeating D-flat major chords way too much near the end, usually with the left hand playing the two lowest D-flats in an octave.

Did anybody happen to come across the article (on this site called KlavierSpiel) that postulates that 32-13 is a major-key twin of Op. 3 no. 2? There's a bunch of cross-references in the material of the piece.

I played no. 10 last semester. I absolutely loved it, too. It's very powerful. I've never heard no.13, but I'll have to now  :)  My biggest problem with no.10 was counting and keeping a steady tempo. I'd get so "into the piece," that I'd try to make it even more romantic than it already is, lol. It's alot of fun to play though. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I love 10 as well, but 13 is just one of my most favourite Rachmaninoff pieces ever. If you haven't heard it yet, check an amazing recording (+many more) here:

No.10 is also sooooo close to being a perfect piece. It builds so beautifully, but the ending leaves much to be desired. It just doesn't seem like the right way to finish such a gorgeous prelude.

I've been in love with op 23 no 7 since Jr. High (about 5 years)
