on: December 24, 2005, 11:29:28 AM
I chose the following Pieces to perform in a big recital next year. Are these songs reasonable, is it long enough. Can someone help me arrange them into what order i should play them in.

Alla Turca -Mozart
Fantasy In D minor -Mozart
Fantasie Impromtu -Chopin
Sonata No.3 mvt 2 -Chopin
2 Nocturnes -Chopin
Malaguena -Albeniz
Fur Elise -Beethoven
Traumerei 1 -Schumann
Allegro Grazioso Op 1 No 9 -Liszt

I like these pieces you have decided to play in your recital, but i would walk out the room once you start playing the fantasie impromtu by Chopin.

To be honest i do like the pieces you chose but in my opinion there are many composers from different eras. I mean, you play Bach and then you play Albeniz  ::), some people may like those combinations but i dont.

What about this program:

Option 1: Mozart - Beethoven:

Fantasy In D minor - Mozart
Alla Turca - Mozart
Viennese Sonatinas - Mozart
Sonatina in G major - Beethoven

Option 2: Chopin - Liszt

Preludes 2,4,6,15 and 20 - Chopin
Nocturne in C# minor Op Posth - Chopin
Fantasie-Impromptu - Chopin
Consolations - Liszt

Good Luck
Fue Elise - Beethoven

The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

Hello, and have a Happy New Year. My preferences as a listener:
i) I'm a bit tired of the overplayed pieces: Fur Elise, Bach WTK 1, Fantasie Impromptu...
i) I prefer complete pieces, not isolate movements. Play the Mozart and Chopin's Sonatas complete. There will be time enough if you rule out the pieces above, and so your recital will have a bigger artistic level.
Good luck1
