hello guys! I am a freshman Music Education major in college, and I have an entire month off from school without a teacher. I was wondering what new composers to start playing. I am currently polishing up Bach's Prelude and Fugue No. 9 in E major, and No. 2 in C Minor....Chopin's Nocturnes in F Minor and Db Major, and the Raindrop Prelude.
I have not played any Debussy, and I am very interested in him, but I don't know where to start.... I don't know exactly how to approach his music either, like with what kind of feeling...and what should I know about his music..besides that it's very impressionistic...from a pianists point of view?
i am also thinking about learning Chopin's first Nocturne in Bb Minor because it's so sad, and Rachmaninoff's Elegie...but this one seems kind of difficult. has anyone here played it before and have any advice on approaching these two pieces too?
thank you so much.
happy holidays!
:-)
