Mignon - Notation issue
on: December 27, 2005, 12:13:27 PM
Dear all,

I have a beginner's question...as usual: in Schumann's "Mignon", from the Album for the young (op. 68), bars 4 and 6: a dotted line connects two notes from the treble and the bass key. Is that the equivalent of a slur accross keys? How exactly should I play the 4th bar for example? EEF, or just EF, holding E?
Thank you so much!

Thomas

Another notation question (just saving myself from making a new thread).

Bach's 2P Invention #1, bar 13. Both hands play the same key (E). How is this interpreted? My only guess is the trill is altering the LH's E.

Only use one hand, the one that doesnt interfere with the continuity of the piece You might find it easyer using the left hand as it will make the trill more uniform however if you might find it easyer with the right hand. (Peronaly I would experiment with the bar using both  :)
