O MAN, I"M SCREWED!!!!!  My school is the worst for theft!!  I brought my parents' new video camera to school, it's like 3000 dollars, and I kept it in my school bag the entire time.  I was only away from my school bag for five minutes, and the camera is gone...  My parents are wondering where it is, and I have no clue how to tell them it got stolen!!  Sorry don't expect any replies, just need to let that out!! AAAA

What would possess you to take a 3000 dollar camera to school?

If you needed to film something that's great but you could have asked your parents for a cheaper 100-300 dollar one. If they can afford a 3000 dollar one, this would be no problem.

But if you brought it to show it off, you may have attracted the wrong eyes.

that reminds me the one time i took my ipod to work (part time job I'm 18) it was stolen, but not very wise of the thief as I was only there fo 3 hours, I found out who did itand got it back haha... he got fired.... PAYBACKS A pregnant dog!

Anyone willing to take their camera to school should always make sure its not  a steep investment

Make an announcement that there are possible suspects that have been named and caught on security cameras, and the authorities have been contacted.  Any involved parties are advised to come foreward, to avoid an embarrasing scene when authorities arrive at the school.

I think "mycrabface" is way off base.

I do wonder why anyone would even buy a $3000 camera, because any camera is expendible-- they get dropped, they get stolen, etc.

Most large schools will have an audiovisual technician on staff who will lend out a camera for some approved school project. 

Check out insurance possibilities.  Our neighbor had an expensive bicycle stolen across town.  Turns out, it was insured on his homeowner policy.   Apparently, did not even have to be stolen from off his property -- e.g., out of the garage or something.

No I mean REALLY WORTH IT..
But I do agree on what most of you were saying.. Don't EVER bring something really valuable to a high-crime-rate place!!!
