Grieg - Complete Lyric Pieces - HELP
on: December 29, 2005, 11:04:13 AM
Hi everyone,
I was just browsing amazon, trying to get a cd which featured the complete lyric pieces written by Grieg and couldn't find any! The best I got was this but it isn't complete:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005UUOC/ref=ord_cart_shr/202-2419116-6508658?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Does anyone know of a cd which has them all?

Thanks,
Joana

I have a 3 CD set which contains the complete set of Lyric Pieces, along with the sonata op.7. The performer is Daniel Levy. I hope this helps to narrow down your search! I bought it from ebay, so I don't know any online stores to recommend.

Naxos has a "Complete Piano Music" series of Grieg, and volumes 8, 9 and 10 contain his Lyric Pieces.

Here are the CDs on Amazon UK:

Volume 8 (Lyric Pieces Book 1, 2, 3, & 4):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000147Z/qid=1135858681/sr=1-17/ref=sr_1_0_17/026-7128407-5516439

Volume 9 (Lyric Pieces Book 5, 6, & 7):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001480/qid=1135857623/sr=1-14/ref=sr_1_0_14/026-7128407-5516439

Volume 10 (Lyric Pieces Book 8, 9 & 10) :
https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001481/qid=1135858632/sr=1-16/ref=sr_1_0_16/026-7128407-5516439

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Raymond

if you can find one, id be be very interested to hear a pianist who can play 3 times as fast as normal ;)

for normal recordings, not complete sets though, i recommend andsnes and gavrilov

I wolud add Gilels-probably the best recording (magazine Grammophon put that recording into their library with best recordings of classical music)
Also Pletnev plays them very nice (melodya)

Try this page:
https://www.claudiocolombo.net/grieg.htm

You can download here, I think, complete Lyric Pieces, althaught performance is'n superb, but it is free, so..

Thanks everyone!
I was tempted to buy the Naxos evrsion for Grieg's complete works but somehow I'm never too inclined to Naxos.
I just found this one which might be a good choice (and it's cheaper at amazon.co.uk):
https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001M4DK0/qid=1135870736/br=1-2/ref=br_lf_m_1/171-7094448-6121010

Stevie: What do you mean about playing them 3 times as fast? Didn't get that one...
