Expression and Khachaturian's Toccata

So, I'm working on this piece and I'm wondering how I should feel about it.  I know this is going to sound a bit strange, but I'm an actress and I usually put myself in a different mental state when I play a piece...the death of a loved one, a bad break-up, raging over my lost pennies... I'm completely lost on what to relate the toccata too. Anyone that played it have any suggestions?

try to just feel the rhythmic drive and energy in that piece. if you want to relate it to a particular character or state of mind, i guess you could feel it as a dance-like piece, imagining a group of gipsy-folk playing music and dancing around etc. ('cause that's what influenced his music a lot - folk music, dance rhythms..)

also, maybe reading about katchaturian himself could help, to show you what his character was, his state of mind, and the environment in which he generally lived
