Chopin FIRST piano sonata
on: January 09, 2006, 02:01:00 PM
I have been listening to this sonata recently (Adam Harasiewicz's recording).

I know it was a piece Chopin wrote in his early years, and became angry when he realized that his composition teacher sent it to print. He was a perfeccionist, and was probably not completely satisfied with it.

I also agree that both sonatas that followed are trully masterpieces, belonging to a higher level.

That said...

I REALLY LIKE CHOPIN's FIRST SONATA !!!!

In my opinion, it is a beautifull work, where Chopin's genius begins to appear.

Why the hell is it so underplayed??

It doesnt deserve to be neglected !!!

If you have not listened to it yet, give it a try. You wont regret it !!!  :) :)

I think it's just always been hip to disdain an artist's early works, although many early works by masters are fresh, wonderful pieces.  Sometimes masterpieces, sometimes not; sometimes a diamond in the rough that just needs the right performer to bring it to life.  You should be happy to find a wonderful piece that's underplayed!  We are all trying to do this!  (congratulations)  Have fun.

I would like to listen to it.  Just that I need to find a recording first.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
