Save me a seat.  :D

I don't know, what is your time frame? Two hours?
Here's an idea. Play a bunch of Preludes and/or Esquisses before intermission, as those are very pleasant and a good way of drawing people in. Maybe throw in Le Chemin or Saltarelle at the end of the half too. Then after intermission, launch into some bigger stuff. What Alkan are you capable of? Le Festin might make for a good second-half opener if you can pull it off; the Symphony or the Sonatine would also be a good bet.

ive dabbled in many alkan works, havent gotten any finished yet though.

this is just an idea, just a normal recital length, maybe 90 mins in total?
so the concerto would be out of the question for this concert, or would it? 8)

festin, symph, and sonatine are my favourite alkan works, so definetly a pozzibility, but in which order would you play them?

the program would ideally have contrast, and be as appealing as possible to the public.

with a programme like that, you better have a good life insurance policy.

You forgot the audience.

festin, super flumina, intermission, symphony.  for encores (secret, of course) maybe something like saltarella or the one with the train (Chemin de Fer?)
Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.  :)

It'd look like this:

Alkan Overture Op. 39 No. 11
Alkan Trois Grandes Etudes Op. 76
Alkan Symphonie pour Solo Piano Op. 39
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alkan Selections from Esquisses Op. 63
Alkan Etudes dans tous les Tons Majores Op. 35 Nos. 7 and 10
Alkan Trois Etudes de Bravoire Op. 12
Alkan Le Festin d'Esope Op. 39 No. 12

Encore- Alkan Comme le Vent Op. 39 No. 1
Encore- Alkan Etude de Concert "Le Preux" Op. 17

35-1 is a good opening piece, and 35-3 through 35-5 is a great one-two-three punch. Maybe go 35-1 through 5, some preludes, intermission, le festin, sonatine, 35-10 through 12. Something makes me suspect that the Symphony might be a bit too dark for audiences - after all, it is a really, REALLY gloomy piece.

7 and 10 are the longest major key etudes, randomly, that is a mildly insane program, whats the proposed time?

i love the op12 though! some of his most awesome early works, especially no3

more suggestions?

i think possibly ending 1st half with the sonatine and ending the concert with the symph, it is a very dark piece, but its awesome, naturally.

sonatine - 20 mins roughly

symph - 25 mins roughly

thats 45 mins out of what...a 90 min prog?

im not sure what the standard program length is nowadays anyways, mildly.

ever heard of "We'll cross that bridge when we get there"?  Why don't you learn one piece and post a recording of your playing for us to hear?

thats a pretty short program, but randomly, true

Dont do it stevie - spare yourself while you still can!

alkan is my favourite piano composer, the fact that his music is hard to play is a nice challenge 8)

Don't hold your breath.

how about op17 instead?

i could play it faster than thou
