I will pay someone to create sheet music from MP3
on: October 08, 2003, 02:04:01 AM
I have an mp3 of a great piano piece that I cannot get the music to ANYWHERE- it is a good quality mp3, but I cant seem to be able to transcribe it well.  I am willing to pay anyone who is able to do this perfectly.  Please let me know!  ;)

Printing music is one of my specialties.

I'll be happy to do this service for you, provided the music itself is not copyrighted.

The MP3 performence may or may not be copyrighted - I don't care. My only requirement is that the music itself (i.e. the notes you wish to transcribe) is in the public domain.

If the music meets this single requirement, contact me (either privately, or on this thread). I charge $6 per printed page.

Well if you are transcribing the piece from what you hear, the notes cannot possibly be copyrighted, because you are writing your interpretation.  Also, I dont think sheetmusic to this already exists, or I would have found it.
About the pages, I dont know how many the piece takes (and this also depends on how many staves you fit on one page).  Also, have you done this before, and how well do you think you can transcribe?  I can email you the mp3 so you can make estimates etc.

If the MP3 is for piano solo, then I have absolutely no freedom of interperting the notes.

Every single note which is played by the pianist on the recording, should also be in the sheet music. Every note which ISN'T played, should not be in the sheet music.

Or did I misunderstand what you want to do here?

As for whether I did this before - yes, countless of times. At any rate, I'll send you a lo-res watermarked copy of the transcription for your approval.

If the transcription doesn't seem good enough, you pay nothing. Only if you are satisfied, will I send you a high-res copy of the music (for which you pay, of-course).

don't you have a midi version of the piece? because for sure you can notate it! without paying extra. just print it out from your comp after downloading your midi notating software! and then voila! you get your sheet.

No, it's an mp3, and as far as I know, there are no good mp3-midi converters out there.

88: No, you didnt misunderstand.  But isn't is possible to change the music slightly so that it differs from the original- thus avoiding any copyright laws, etc.  Because I would think that your edition wouldnt be exactly like the actual piece (wherever that may be).  Also, I have never seen or heard of sheet music to this before, so it couldnt be copyrighted.

The music seems to be based on a traditional Christian hymn which was written in 1830... With a lot of cool nifty jazzy ornaments added to it.

The hymn itself is, of-course, public domain. The jazzy stuff are probably not.

Still, if the arrangement is completely unavailable as sheet music, I see no harm in producing one for you.

Just a last question: Where did you get this MP3? I need to know in order to be completely sure that there really is no sheet music available.

yes, it was quite a challenge, but with the Amazing Slow Downer program (free download on the internet) it makes it much easier.  What piece are you doing?

I've never used it for a piano piece, mainly bass guitar songs.

Naoki Nishi did a jazz arrangement for Jesus, Joy of Man's desire for my roland keyboard. so here is a question. How would I get the music from the keyboard to my computer? It has a safety device to prevent me from just hooking it up to finale or something.

Reply #16 on: December 10, 2006, 10:01:59 PM
I know this thread is three years out of date, but i have been looking for this sheet music for the past few years myself.

If anyone has this sheet music (The Jazz version of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring my Naoki Nishi - A demo song on some Roland Pianos) then please email me, or if anyone knows allchopin (above poster's) email address so I can get in contact with him let me know.

If you have sheet music for this I will be willing to pay.

Thanks. (Chris(dot)han100(at@)gmail(dot)com)
