Cha-ching! Raised my rates
on: January 25, 2006, 11:54:13 PM
I upped my fees and no one batted an eyelash.  Imagine getting paid a little more for doing the same job.  :)  Nice... very nice... 8)

A 20% increase.  But it does make me wonder if I was far too low before.

(Bob ponders ways of spending his new found millions...)

good for you, bob!  sometimes we forget that very important fact - as companies routinely give bonuses and raises for good employees.  when you are self-employed sometimes you forget what you deserve and just give stuff away and pay later.

Bob--

[I'm not a teacher, but a long-time adult student.]

My thought would be -- the final rate, where you ended up.  Is it competitive?

There have been threads where many students have posted the rate they are currently paying.

Some charges named were simply appalling.  I imagine in some cases the students are very wealthy, or have money behind them somewhere.  (Rich dad?)

Most teachers seemed to be setting rates that are affordable.

Glad you are ending up a few $$$ ahead.

You realize . . .  You will have to work harder now at each lesson to justify . . .     :-)

Thanks.  Yes, I'm competitive now.  It wasn't a big change really.

I just keep working on things and keep getting better.  Not so much of an effort that way really.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
