Living in the Country and Learning
on: January 26, 2006, 02:53:04 AM
I took about a year of lessons when I lived in the suburbs, but now I've moved into the country where it isn't possible for me to get piano lessons.

What would people suggest I could do in order to learn, advanced my skills, and improve my playing?

I guess it also depends on how far you live to the closest piano teacher. If it's not very very far maybe you could take  a lesson every other week?  Or even once a month?

Lessons are so critical, IMO nothing can substitute them.

I used to have a student who lived over an hour away.  I was in the nearest town, and they'd call me once or twice a month to say they were coming to town for groceries, and we scheduled around that.  It's fine to see someone less frequently than every week, better than seeing no one at all.  Good luck.
