Damp - Chaser
on: January 30, 2006, 02:03:29 AM
Is this humidification system beneficial and do many people use it. ?
Live in Southeast US with some fluctuations in weather, humidity etc. It has been recommended. Would be used for a Kawai RX3
Thanks you

I highly reccomend it. Unless you can control your homes relative humidity levels between 40%-50%, everyday, year round, your piano will definitely benefit from this system. I live in the northeast, and have always installed a system in every piano I have ever owned. Tuning stability will be improved, as well as the overall health of the pianos soundboard.

Absolutely recommended. The way my house is laid out up here in Canada, with the patio door (that opens on an screened veranda) opened all summer it's as though the piano is outside during the summer months. My tech actually suggested I purchase one, which I did, an older second hand unit. The piano now holds its tune much longer andno more 'mechanical' problems too. I've built a nice water level indicator for the thing (newer models come with one) that shows when the tank is empty and when it's full so filling it up is dead easy, just fill 'er up until the light goes green. I change my pads every fall, you could probably get away with using blue Shop Towels. All in all, highly recommended.
