Preparing for Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1
on: January 30, 2006, 07:58:24 PM
So far I am hoping to plan to play this in my senior year in high school. My teacher told me to workout, probably for the large chords. How do I keep the speed for the large arpeggios near the beginning? so far I kept it really consistent, but needs to speed up. And how do practice for the cadenza? Thanks!

Might sound dumb, but what arpeggio chords at the beginning....

Aren't they full sounding block chords.... Anyway, when playing them, play them boldly and really sink your fingers into playing those chords... and it shouldn't be too hard to play them fast seeing as, as far as I can remember, they are just repeats an octave and 2 octaves above the original... so it's not like you need to change fingering or anything.

Try playing straight with a metronome and slowly increase the speed until you get it just the way you like it.

I think hes talking about the part after the chords on page 3 I think, there are alot of arpeggios, and they are hard to speed up. I dont have any special Technique to make them easier, i just played it slower and speed it up,
