"Supination" means to "turn the hand or forearm so that the palm faces upward".

"Pronation" is the opposite.

Maybe I misunderstood,, but please help me with these two terms because they show up so frequently in the book I am reading.....

You can rotate your forearm in either direction...you might not turn it all the way, but pronation and suppination describe which way you're rotating it.

(And you can play a glissando palm up, using your fingernails.)
