Scarlatti fingering
on: February 08, 2006, 09:22:24 PM
Hi all,
I recently got the sheet music for Scarlatti's D minor sonata k.141. The copy I have doesn't have any fingering marked so I've been using 3-2-1-3-2-1, which seems to be working out OK for the most part. But does anyone have any alternatives that would work better? I'm not sure if the way I'm doing it is the best way.

Thanks,

Jas

I would use 4-3-2-1-2-1, it's easier to move the 4 to the next key at the barline, and provides rest for the 3rd finger, so it's not doing all the work. You could also use 3 instead of 2 on the fifth sixteenth note with this fingering, if you find that more comfortable.

That sounds like a good idea. It's moving smoothly from one note to the next that's posing the biggest problem so a 4 might help that...
Thanks for the advice :)
