Works By Chopin
on: February 10, 2006, 06:26:50 AM
Hi!  I have only played Chopin's nocturnes so far.  I've done the one's in Db Major, F minor, and E minor.  I've also done the Raindrop Prelude.  This is to show what level I am at.  My question is, outside of nocturnes, what other pieces would you reccomend that are around this level such as Preludes, Polonaises, Waltzes....etc.

thank you so much!

Preludes 4 and 6 from Op.28 are fairly simple, and very nice too. Also other preludes from that opus, although a few are quite difficult. I don't know many polonaises other than No.6 and the Grande Brilliante that comes with Andante Spinate, and out of those two I'd suggest No.6 as the easiest. There are a few minute waltzes that are fairly simple (repeated) so look for those.

Hope this helps,
Henrah

You should try some of the waltzs, they are awesome! You seem to be about my level, so I can suggest the posthumous Waltz in A Minor, Waltz in B Minor and Waltz in C# Minor.

Why not some mazurkas? They are very nice, and there are some of them pretty challenging. Good luck!

The Nocturne in Db major is opus 27 No. 2

I personally like the posthumous waltz in E-minor (not sure of the number).
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.
