one of the most emotional and eye-opening movies for me was Hotel Rwanda.  Superb acting by Don Cheadle, Nick Nolte, Joaquin Phoenix, and Sophie Okonedo.  Absolutely amazing filming, and the story is so poignant.  The more I researched the topic, the more I realized how important the movie was.  A statement not just about the past, but about the future, the present, for Africa.

haven't seen the new pink panther yet, but am looking forward to it.  i need a good laugh.

Woah, hold the phone!!! A new Pink Panther!?!?!? Whoever could they cast! And I bet it will turn out to be another Home Alone 3, complete and utter crud, thus ruining the legend but, in turn, still keeping the original on it's high platform.

To answer the topic:

King Kong. Oh, my god. If anyone has not seen this, go see it now. And I mean now soldier, get go!! GO!!!

Steve Martin is playing Clouseau I think.  he's in it anyhow.

I just saw The Island and thought it was really good.
Critics made it out to be the biggest bore they ever saw, but I have talked to several people and they have all enjoyed it.

Ends up being a chase movie half way thru, but then most american films are like that now.

The idea for the movie is very interesting. It is very well done and the acting is good.

I recommend this one.

Kung Fu Hustle is an amazing film, quite different to anything I've seen before. And everytime I watch it I notice something new.

The Lion King still makes me cry :'(

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is great too, I love Martin Freeman's acting and Steven Fry's voice.

Oh and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit, that's great also!
(did you know that Aardmaan (sp?) are making a fully CG film out this November, but still keeping all the traits of their films i.e. the wide mouths and are giving it imperfections etc to make it look like stop-motion/claymation?)

Event Horizon scares mah pants full....still....

.....especially when I'm monged....

My wife saw it this past weekend and laughed hysterically. Steve Martin is indeed Clouseau and is perfectly matched to the part.

Another remake of a classic (like Pink Panther) and I agree a successful one. Definitely worth seeing!

Two movies that really made me think (one is still in release) were Crash and Syriana. Crash dealt with race issues, Syriana is a crash course in how the Middle East got so messed up.
